Dr. Edward Attix received both his B.S. in Physiology (1975) and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (1980) from the University of California Davis. He has been in practice at Pacific Animal Hospital since 1981. Dr. Attix has a special interest in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, dentistry, pain management, and both canine and feline internal medicine. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (Canine/Feline), and a member of the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management. When not at the hospital, Dr. Attix enjoys reading, music, traveling and baseball. He is blessed with five children, one grandson, two Golden Retrievers and two wacky cats.

Dr. Valerie Caskey earned a B.S. in Animal Science from the University of Maryland College Park before graduating from the University of Minnesota School of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. She practiced small animal medicine and surgery for ten years in Minnesota before moving to California in 1996. Dr. Caskey's special interests are soft tissue surgery, greyhound medicine, feline medicine, ultrasound, and acupuncture. Dr. Caskey and her husband, Dr. Attix, have five children and one grandchild. Their family pets include two golden retrievers, Bob and Betty, and two cats, Playful and Gary. Outside of work, Dr. Caskey enjoys traveling, gardening, reading, hiking, baseball, and spending time with her family.

Dr. Amy Lockwood was born and raised in San Diego. She went to the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA for her undergraduate work, and worked for five years at UCSD prior to entering veterinary school. Dr. Lockwood graduated from the University of California Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. Dr. Lockwood lives in Oceanside with her daughter, her dog Abby. She spends her time outside of work dancing, gardening, traveling and reading. Dr. Lockwood has been with Pacific Animal Hospital since 1997. She enjoys many aspects of veterinary medicine, including soft tissue surgery and medicine.

Dr. Deirdre Cosby was born and raised in Southern California. She attended the University of California, Santa Barbara and graduated with honors with a Bachelors of Science in Zoology. After which, she attended Colorado State University and graduated with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2003. Upon graduating, she returned to Hermosa Beach to work at a small animal practice. Because much of her family relocated to the North County Area, she followed and began working for Pacific Animal Hospital in December 2003. Dr. Cosby's veterinary interests include canine and feline internal medicine, geriatric health and wellness, critical care and surgery.

Dr. Kathy Burnell received a B.S. in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience from UCSD in 1997. After working in the veterinary field and with marine animals for several years, she returned to school at Colorado State University where she received a M.S. in Anatomy in 2002 and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. Upon graduating, she returned to San Diego where she completed a one year internship in emergency medicine. She joined Pacific Animal Hospital in 2008. Dr. Burnell has a special interest in soft tissue surgery, internal medicine and critical care. She has two playful cats. Outside of work she enjoys the outdoors, music and traveling.
